I picked Guild Wars on Sunday and I have to say it's a pretty good online RPG. The great thing about it is you don't pay a monthly fee to play the game like other online RPGs. GW is targeted for people who want to play online RPGs yet don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of hours leveling up and paying online fees.
The level cap in GW so far is level 20. They might raise the level cap later in expansion packs. This is pretty good because 1) You don't spend months trying to attain a high level. 2) PvP (Player-versus-Player) matches will mainly rely on tactics and how efficient you are at using skills. I haven't gotten around to do PvP yet, but I've heard people commenting on the whole PvP thing.
PvE (Player-versus-Environment) is what I've been doing the entire time. I find it really enjoyable because you get your own private copy of areas to explore and go questing (Except for towns where you meet up with people). So you won't have to worry about being jumped by a group of people 10 levels higher than you or worry about people stealing Exp from you when you're fighting difficult enemies. The downside to this is you can't call for help from a friend when you're in the middle of fight. You'll have to return to town and form a party with someone then return to fight the enemy. (I haven't had this problem since I go solo all the time.)
One of the frustrating things about this game is the fact it causes my computer to freeze up sometimes (Usually 2-5 times during a playing session; which is usually 2-4 hours for me). Also the customisation of your character is limited compared to other online RPGs.
If you're interested in getting the game I recommend doing alot of research before buying it, because once you buy it I believe you cannot return it if you come to hate the game.
