I have a problem with an unknown window popping up and then going away, mostly shows up on my taskbar. Problem is, it throws off my screensaver, movies i'm watching, and sometimes even Americas Army. Anyone have ANY ideas? I would like to avoid Formatting my HD, incase thats what one of you was going to say...

This is a second hand computer from my late mother. The window problem started before my owning the machine. I think I may end up just formatting the harddisk and reinstalling windows. I am making backups for my needed files already. games are easy enough to get reinstalled.

install spybot....update it, run spybot....clean/fix/delete everything it tells you to. restart. install adaware...update it, run adaware...clean/fix/delete everything it tells you to. restart.
if this doesn't fix it, I'm not going to go into what it might/might not be.
My game rig only plays games....NOTHING ELSE, no internet, no pr0n, no email, nuth-ing. So I've had zero problems with it. Then again i'm a pc whore.......

I run spy search and adaware they rock .. one of the best free protection out there. when I first downloaded them I was told I had 286 problems . got rid of them and bingo pc ran so so much better. Now I run them every 4th day and get rid of about 15 - 20 . its awesome.

I wouldn't use noadaware. Use ad-aware SE personal by Lavasoft. Not a buggy program. I also recommend Spy-bot search & destroy like Groove said. A friend of mine runs that noadaware 4 & has had problems.
