Alright, so, got the new rig all hooked up and in the case. Press Power, nothing. Checked: 1 Mobo LED- status OK 2 Panel 1 plugs and wires (pwrswtch, reset, blah blah blah) - OK 3 Check plugs and wires coming from PSU - OK Pressed power button.....Nothing. NOt even a beep. Had a local computer whiz tell me to try taking out the 500W psu that came with the case and use the 250W that i already had just to check if its a bad psu. Changed them out, pressed power.......nothing. Same as before. As expected i'm getting a lil frustrated at this point, so i consider that maybe the wiring behind the front panel of the case is screwy. Take that apart, check the wiring...... status OK. My question at this point is whether could the mobo i bought be bad?? Could it have a fault with Panel1 to not be letting the pwr switch work? Any ideas fellas? I'm stumped. And Really dont want to take the mobo out, but if what is is what it is if thats the case.... Its a really decent mobo: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131527So yeah, help would be grand. Thanks in advance.

flip the cpu? How so? it has a gold triangle in the corner to line up the the triangle on the cpu port (if thats what its called) If it can still be something worth trying, throw some details at me. If its easier to explain in email, send it to the gmail.
Just wanted to mention also, thanx for hitting this thread up Anjel.

He means try a diff CPU ! Also try removing and reseating RAM and Video Card Sometimes bad connections can cause these problems .
Do you have case chassis Speaker hooked up ? Are you getting any Beep Codes ?
Good Luck Synthetic !

I'll try the ram/vid card thing first. I hope its not a CPU issue...much more expensive. Then i'll try resetting cmos. I had already read about doing that in the manual. Anyone have a 478 cpu laying around, just in case?? ;D
Oh, and theres no beeps, no power to that panel1 at all from what i can tell, the LEDs for the front panel dont even light up for power. Only other LED that turns on is the one for the onboard ethernet.

Alright, i did moved and wiggled and reinstalled the vid card, sound card, RAM, and Processor...no go. So i tried resetting cmos using the jumper....still nothing, so i tried resetting cmos by removing the battery and all...no go. I can get a Prescott 3.0E 478 for just under $80, I was planning on getting this anyway as an upgrade, should i go ahead and order it rush delivery and try it out? I can send out the mobo (if it is DOA) by friday and i'm still within exchange period. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116175R

If your going to change board recommend to get Intel Chipset NOT SIS nothing but trouble for me !!! Why are you sticking with Socket 478 ? kinda waste of time Syn ..... You would be better to wait until you can afford to Upgrade to Socket 775 , DDR2 Ram , And PCIE Vid Card Not much price Diff on Motherboard and CPU Anyway !

Or if you had just used AMD and an nforce 5 board to begin with, you wouldn't be having any problems.

RRRR I think he is talking about a board with an AMD socket and an invidia NForce chipset .... BUT why would anyone in this day and age game with AMD anyways I have a laptop with a AMD Turion and ATI graphics . Its cheap and great for everything BUT gaming.... Sorry kids but you just can't beat a BigBlock with a FourCylinderTurbo Hell even my poor old Northwood can spank the average modern AMD

ANyway, not stepping on toes. To answer one of the questions, i'm sticking to 478 for now because i was trying not to spend money on an upgrade, just trying to get my computer running again, just with a lil bit better transfer rates and small little helpings with multimedia, not neccessarily upgrading totally. If i must upgrade to something more powerful, then it will be later when I can grab a credit card offer and max the whole thing out on building my dream rig, which i already started compiling parts for.
I was just planning on "fixing" my computer after the zap-up almost a month ago. Now its gone awry with new parts planning for my supposed cheap, "well i can play the games i want watch my dvds.." and its starting to drive me nuts.... if i could i'd trash the whole project and just go buy a emachine with a decent processor and vid card and just go back to my happy times of fuqin' around on the comp.
I dont know what to do anymore...just flying by the streaks in my pants right now.
