I just recently placed a 3.4 Prescott into my socket 478. (YAY) Problem is the heat isnt REAL bad (idle 45-50c, loaded 55-65c) I know a lot of you guys have moved on from single-core, but was wondering if some of you who are more.....trained/educated/workasses off, in this field could hint me in the direction of a good cooler for this processor. I dont mind going liquid either, but would like to keep price down if possible, but definitely want the best bang for buck....i'm typing much more than needed....i need beer.

Only problem there is, i dont have that stock black frame/bracket around the CPU anymore. The heatsink/fan i have now has a bracket that comes up from undernieth the motherboard and has four screws. I dont know if i can get another one of those black frames.

Well, it turns out (after downloading and using SensorView Pro) My CPU is actually running (according to Mobo readings) @54c idle. and while having a game open is running at 69c. Maximum temp is supposed to be 80c from what i have read, so thats why i'm worried.
I guess its not so bad. I have a Vantec copper heatsink/fan combo (70mm fan), so i guess i'll be alright. I was just considering going liquid cooled...

It comes with it's own mounting hardware and yes that is a little warm with Zalman should be around 46 a nice compfortable temp!
