Many people are experiencing issues with connecting to the same server when a friend on LAN joins up.
- Go to Steam's My games menu and Right-click on the BFBC2 and select Properties.....
- From the General tab, click the Set launch options button
- Add a different client port number on each machine between 27005 and 27032 in the following format:
(Where XX is a different number for each system - DO NOT USE 27020)
In the screen shot you can see that I used 27032 as the clientport for my machine.
After these changes all three machines should be able to access the same game server simultaneously.
