...piece of junk only lasted 10 years... Now what do I do?! I go online and all their other headsets look/sound like junk. ...I'll never have a headset do for me what this headset did for some many glorious years....even if I did have to gorilla glue the hear cushions back on.... or tie a piece of T-shirt where the mic foam wore away...
RIP you wonderful headset. Your sound quality will be missed.
So guys, anyone know a good head set for under $50? I can't justify paying more than that for a faq'n headset.

Head sets dying sucks ! Especially when you like them. No suggestions for good cheap ones as I suffer with piece of crap ones until I see a good sale and then buy two.

Sorry, I can't offer any suggestions (I have my own room with 5.1 speakers), but I sympathize with you. I have a Plantronics headset at work (7 years old) I use for telephone, webinars, voice recognition, etc. and it is extremely good quality stuff. It's pricey, but....you get what you pay for. Two years ago I bought my kids a Logitech headset for under $50 and it started to fall appart within months. You do get what you pay for!

I would like to get Plantronics again, but I honestly don't like what they're offering at this time. I'm getting the creative tacticals with the 3.5 to USB adapter. I like the USB adapter because it has its own mini-sound card, so using it with my laptop or anything with a USB connection, I'll still have great sound quality.
I have a logitech 5.1 surround sound system, but most of my gaming is done in the evenings or weekends when my wife is trying to relax. One day whenever we get our own home built (already have building plans for the house), I'll have a "man cave" away from the relaxing parts of the home in which I will have the 5.1 surround again, plus the computer/xbox connected to the big screen. it'll be the dedicated game room.

I got the Creative Tactical 3D Alpha. Normally $60, got it for $40. I like a quality headset, so I hope this will do it.
I also ordered a 10' 3.5mm jack extension wire and 3.5 to 2.5mm adapter, so now I can use them for late night on my xbox360 also.
So where normal price was $60, I have a headset that will work everywhere I want it to. Except for my wife...but technology is getting there.
