Congratulations to my American brothers on the culmination of the longest campaign in political history. It is my hope that this new leadership for your country will lead you all to a life of prosperity, security and peace. It is an honour to be counted among your brothers and friends.

1. I've spent more on ammo in the last 6 months than I ever have. 2. If my taxes go up in any way, shape, or form - he's an idiot. 3. If you know anything about economics, it's going to get worse before it gets better. 4. Iraq is worried he'll yank troops but they already want us out by January. 5. I wish him good luck. He's going to need it. (and his wife is still ugly)
5b. Is this is what 5+ billion dollars gets us?

I am just glad the election is finally over there's not much that bothers me more then constantly hearing about an election in ANOTHER country. This wouldn't bother me as much if it wasn't for the fact that no matter who the US populace voted for they(like us) are merely voting for the 'lesser' of two evils. Politics is a joke.

Politics is a system. Don't expect more out of it than what it can deliver given its natural limitations. People are fallible and differ. That's democracy. Like Churchill said, it sucks, but it's better than the alternatives.
As for one of Huhey's points, I've lived all over the world and the US (and a few people everywhere else) feel so strongly about taxes. Bottom line, civilization costs money. We either pay for it individually, or collectively. In the end the only source to pay for it is us, so rather than see one way as good or bad, I'd suggest at least considering both ways for each element and choose whichever one is best.
If high taxes lead to unhappiness, the countries that consistently win the "happiest, safest and most satisfied nations" in studies and polls (which are also the same ones with the lowest crime rates and the longest lifetimes) wouldn't consistently be the same ones that have the highest taxes. I'm sure they waste some money, but who doesn't either as a government, business, institution or individual?
I know this is heresy in the US, but all I'm suggesting is that the idea be considered, not necessarily accepted. There really is a lot of evidence for it being valid. More than I've seen for the opposite. And if you still feel the same way, then at least try to consider cutting back on the Pentagon's budget. Eisenhower was right. That business is the craziest money-waster of any on Earth. They make Paris Hilton look like a frugal, logical shopper. ;-)
