Just thought I'd report back on the fundraiser we held for the Canadian Cancer Society to which some of you contributed donations.
The Relay for Life was held last weekend and I'm still sore!
Collectively, the North Island communities (Port McNeill, Port Alice and Port Hardy) raised over $47,000 ($37,000 online donations and $10,000 by other means). It may not seem like that much, but considering the combined populations is less than 10,000 people, we did pretty good. To put it into perspective, if the population of the Lower BC Mainland (Greater Vancouver) contributed the same amount ($4.70/person), the total $ raised would be $11,750,000!
I personally raised over $4,650 (firewood sales, Frisby-golf tournament, Willie Mitchell autographed jersey raffle and general donations). Some of The_Few helped out by collectively donating $265!
I'd personally like to acknowledge ---@1---, Filthy, KAZ, CLiK, Humpa and HadA for their generous contributions to this cause. You guys are solid. Thanks for your support.
Nobody deserves to die from this cancer shit!
